6 Foods For Better Sex Life

Some people talk about it easily and others prefer to keep it for themselves, a low libido. It occurs more to women than men, but both know the problem. And that while a healthy sex life lowers stress, releases calming endorphins in the brains and healthy blood circulation. That’s why it’s important not to neglect this issue. The good news is there are plenty of opportunities to increase your libido naturally.

The aphrodisiac effect of food is known for many centuries. In ancient China, people believed that warm snake blood would lead to greater sexual stamina in men. The Aztecs attributed exciting forces to the avocado and the Romans considered garlic a great source for male fertility and sex drive.

With sex, both psyche and imagination play a role in the physical process. Some foods contain substances that affect the body physiologically, either it’s lowering inflammations, increasing blood flow to the genitals, or stimulate an endorphin rush. The smell or shape of the food may be tempting, as the sensuality of the environment in which we eat it.

Get ready for a natural sex booster with the following foods:

1. Natural Aphrodisiacs

Food that triggers your sex drive is called an aphrodisiac. Figs, bananas and avocados are examples of natural aphrodisiacs packed with vitamins and minerals that increase blood flow to the genitals and boost your libido. Another good example of a natural aphrodisiac is dark chocolate. Several studies have shown that consuming chocolate leads to the release of phenylethylamine (an endogenous substance that is created when people are in love) and serotonin. In addition to the stimulating effect of these substances, they are also mood boosters.

2. Food with lots of vitamin C and iron

Vitamin C improves blood circulation to the organs, so it’s important to make sure you get enough of this every day through your diet. In addition, vitamin C is associated with a healthier female libido. A few good choices are broccoli, oranges, red chili’s and guava. Iron deficiency can especially have a negative impact on the libido of women. Good sources of iron include dark leafy greens such as kale and spinach. (Beef is also a great source of iron, but I rather don’t promote eating beef, I’ll explain why in another article)

3. Sweet potatoes and watermelon

Sweet potatoes contain a lot of potassium and vitamin A. Potassium helps against high blood pressure, which often causes problems in men sexually. A study done by the University of Texas has shown in 2008 that watermelon can cause a similar effect as Viagra (!) The bioactive substances lycopene, beta carotene and citrulline in watermelon ensure relaxation of the veins. While watermelon is not as organ-specific as Viagra, it may lend a hand in the bedroom, without the negative side effects of an unnatural product.

4. Spices like nutmeg and cloves

Herbs are full of antioxidants, which are very good for overall health, including libido. Research published in BMC Complementary Alternative Medicine journal shows that especially nutmeg and clove extract sexual behavior strengthened in male animals. Besides, clove works very well when having a bad breath. Fresh breath ready is a pleasant bonus when making out.

5. Brazil nuts and almonds

Brazil nuts are high in selenium, which plays a role in maintaining healthy testosterone levels. Almonds also contain many vitamins, minerals and healthy fats that can improve sexual health and reproduction. They are particularly rich in zinc, selenium and vitamin E. So stock up on those nuts.

6. Maca and ginkgo biloba

Several studies have shown that this herb plant boosts sexual desire in both men and women. In addition, it has a positive impact on the hormonal balance and fertility of women. Another natural supplement which positively contributes to a healthy libido is ginkgo biloba, because it improves blood flow to the genitals.

Eventually, a conscious and healthy lifestyle remains the basis for life and even a healthy libido. So does the quality of your relationship. And factors such as stress, smoking and lack of sleep play a role too. Yet it’s certainly worthwhile to consider adding some extra libido boosters to your diet.
